Advancing Parenting is a Camarillo, CA nonprofit organization that does parenting education, but we have no classes. In fact, we don't even interact with parents. What we do is find easy and powerful ways for individuals, agencies, businesses, schools, communities, and organizations to promote supportive parenting. Unlike conventional parenting education which is designed to help specific parents improve their parenting skills, Advancing Parenting's goal is to elevate the overall quality of parenting.
Every car gets to be parenting educator!
Advancing Parenting does one thing and one thing only. It produces parenting tip bumper stickers.
There are fifty-five in a set and the tips focus on the development of children's mental health, character, and intellect. Each sticker communicates a parenting behavior or practice generally recognized as supporting the healthy development of children.
The bumper stickers are wordy and were designed to be read at stoplights.
If you have one on your car, at intersections you can use your rearview mirror to watch drivers read the message. They smile, nod, give a thumbs up, and often use their phone to take a picture. If there are passengers in the car, someone will read the tip and comment, then everyone in the car reads it and conversations begin. It’s wonderful to see people discussing parenting! I think folks are reacting this way because there’s a very real need for an entirely new kind of parenting education that reaches everyone, everywhere, all the time and they’re pleased to see parenting tips presented in this very public way.
Schools, daycares, businesses, agencies, service clubs, doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, etc. can put sets of the bumper stickers in holders and place them on counters and tables so staff and visitors can choose one for their cars. Businesses, municipalities, and organizations with fleets of vehicles can put stickers on each one.
Just one will be read thousands of times!

What the Future Holds
Advancing Parenting will in time
partner with the Advertising Council and employ increasingly impactful media to display the fifty-five parenting tips. Three in ten semi trailers have no graphics. This is because they are owned by leasing companies or owner operators who have no service or product to advertise. Advancing Parenting will partner with the manufacturers so these trailers roll off the assembly line with parenting tips on both sides. Imagine the impact of tens of thousands of these giant rolling billboards crisscrossing the U.S. day in and day out 365 days a year.
This will take millions of dollars in donations, but the return on investment and reduction in human suffering will be well worth it.
